A word from DeeAnn:
I have been singing since I was 5 yrs old. My Dad played so many country and soul albums for me growing up. I wrote my first song when I was 20 yrs old and moved to Nashville soon after. I have been blessed to write for many publishing companies and have co-written many songs with Nashville's top songwriters. I have also opened up for some amazing Artists. Those were the best of times. Still something in me longed to be true to myself in my singing and songwriting. I had a vision of the place where Country, Soul and Blues could meet. I wanted to put my raspy voice into that setting. I put my career on hold for the most part when I unexpectedly became a single Mom in the truest sense. This demanded my full attention and family has always come first to me. I think I am living proof that God works all things together for good. My newly released record “This is Soul Country” comes from the deepest part of me. I wrote each original song by myself and I produced it as well. What came to fruition was the sound I have been dreaming about since I was 20 yrs old. Country, Soul, Americana, Roots Rock all coming together in one sound. My influences have always been Tanya Tucker, Stevie Nicks, Linda Ronstadt, Olivia Newton John, and Janis Joplin. My hope is that you will find a signature storytelling that was influenced by all of those classic country records that my Dad played for me. I thank you so much for streaming this music, buying the vinyl and for believing in me. Thanks to each of you who faithfully pack our live shows and continue to cheer us on. I don't take one single minute of this for granted.
A True Original
This petite blonde talent was born and raised in Arlington, Texas. She moved to Nashville to pursue a career in music and quickly became recognized for her unique, un-homogenized vocals and authentic songwriting. She became a widely respected Artist/Writer securing publishing deals with some of Music Row's elite companies including Starstruck Entertainment (Reba McEntire's Company), Warner Chappell, and Pacific Bridge Music. She has opened up for Vince Gill, Raul Malo, Emmylou Harris, Phil Vassar, and Jeff Bates at various shows around Nashville. Her impressive co-writer list includes respected songsmiths such as Byron Hill, Randy Scruggs, and Wynn Varble. She also sets her self apart in that she writes many of her songs by herself and from her own experiences in life. That is perhaps one of the many reasons she is so relatable.
With her Texas roots deeply imbedded in her soul, DeeAnn's voice is the unexpected place where Olivia Newton John meets Janis Joplin. Her album Based On A True Story received critical acclaim including a feature interview in Billboard Magazine and the winner of the prestigious DISCovery Award from Robert K Oermann at Music Row Magazine.
Her next release, FEEL, also received critical acclaim and won her a second win for the Music Row Magazine DISCovery Award. Feel is a Blue-Eyed Soul, Authentic, Country/Rocking collection of music that was recorded at Audio Dallas in Dallas, Texas. The legendary Anson Funderburgh produced and played his stand apart blues guitar style on the album. This project was written in her Nashville, TN home. Again, no cookie cutter here. DeeAnn is a true original. A songwriter who really lets us in. A singer we can tell has lived each story.
